The job of a genetic research technician is complicated, but important to the public. Some of their duties may include working with light and electron microscopes, performing gene-splicing experiments in controlled breeding, studying the effects of molecular alteration on animals and plants, conducting research into the genetic cause of a disease, and attempting to find ways to fight that disease. A Bachelor's degree in either biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or genetic engineering technology is required for this job. But the time required studying may be made up with the career's potential: it is ranked 41 in the top 100 best jobs involving technology.
This is exactly what I want to do. For awhile now, I have wanted to be a genetic engineer/genetic research technician. This is my goal. So, though the other jobs may sound interesting, this is really what I want to do.
