Clinical Research Associate

A cra is responsible for design, planning, and overall direction of research involving medical drugs. Their research involves four main phases. Phase one involves testing of the drugs on small numbers of healthy human volunteers. Phase two involves testing on larger numbers of patients for certain diseases. Phase three, the most extensive phase, involves testing on huge numbers of people, sometimes entire countries. Phase four involves testing on the elderly and children. CRAs should have a good background in science and math, as well as psychology and writing. Some specific job duties may include the following. Making a new drug application to the U.S. FDA, monitoring the record-keeping of the drugs being administered to patient volunteers, inspecting the site facilites to assure that the lab is accredited, and working with nurses and doctors to assure patients' charts accurately reflect their treatment.

This sounds like an interesting job. I enjoy traveling, and being a CRA includes many traveling opportunities. I might consider this as a possible career path.
